Prenuptial Agreement?

I've been thinking about marriage and the difference between back in my grandparents days and the present. Back then, most marriages went without a hitch and believe or not, love was the bond that kept those couples together. Of course the man had to be the provider and all, and maybe I’m incorrect for this, but I don’t think money played too much of a part in marriage back then.

Fast forward to today. Folks are still getting married and besides love, there’s the other factor you have to consider before attaching yourself to your potential mate: Money. Check this out, though: What if one of the parties were independently wealthy prior to the marriage? What if the individual wants to protect their fortune?

What if one of the parties asks for a prenuptial agreement? Is the requirement for a prenup is a wise decision or a very severe lack of trust and faith in the longevity of the pending marriage?
